Guided Scooter Ride - Details

The MS Guided Scooter Ride enables you to see the best of what Montreal has to offer in a relatively short amount of time. Although most people have little to no difficulty riding a scooter, individuals who struggle with balance on bicycles, are afraid of city traffic, or are accident prone in general, should think twice before taking this tour. If any member of your group falls into the above categories, it is possible for them to ride with the guide or another member of your group who is comfortable with a passenger, but the price remains the same per person. Although some history and interesting information about Montreal is provided, the MS Guided Scooter Ride is not a comprehensive historical tour of the city. Each rider will be given a brief tutorial on how to ride a scooter before the tour begins, but the tutorial is not a substitute for a full scooter course. For new riders, the learning curve could be anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes. The tour begins in Old Montreal with lower speeds and progresses to faster speeds over the course of the tour. More experienced riders can skip the Old Montreal section in order to maximize their time at other locations.

For regular group sizes of 5 or less, please arrive at the time of your scheduled tour. Paperwork and helmet fitment will take about 5 - 10 minutes, the tutorial will take 10 - 20 minutes and you should expect to depart approximately 15 - 30 minutes after your arrival. Larger groups of 6 - 9 should plan to arrive 5 - 10 minutes earlier than their scheduled tour time.  Extremely large groups of 10+ should plan to arrive 15-20 minutes earlier than their scheduled tour time.

Conditions

  • Minimum age to participate as a driver is 16 with an automobile license, or 14 with a moped license. Individuals under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
  • If you feel that 1 or more members of your group will be a weak rider, MS recommends booking a private tour so you may go at your own pace.
  • Must be booked by 19h30 the day before, or on short notice subject to availability
  • Scooters provided are Honda Metropolitan. Upgrade to Honda PCX 150 ($20), Vespa LX 50 ($10), Vespa LX 150 ($20), Vespa GT 200L ($25), and Vespa GTS 250 ($30) is possible. If a member of your group is not comfortable riding their own and wishes to ride with a more experienced member of your group, the upgrade to a Vespa LX 50 or larger will be provided free of charge since one less scooter will be needed. In order to upgrade to Honda PCX 150, Vespa LX 150, Vespa GT 200L, or Vespa GTS 250, a motorcycle license is required.
  • Maximum mixed group size is 5. Maximum private group size is 15. A 2nd guide may be provided for larger groups depending on the level of the riders.
