Guided Scooter Ride of Montreal - Details

The MS Guided Scooter Ride of Montreal enables you to see the best of what Montreal has to offer in a relatively short amount of time. Although most people have little to no difficulty riding a scooter, individuals who struggle with balance on bicycles, are afraid of city traffic, or are accident prone in general, should think twice before taking this tour. If any member of your group falls into the above categories, it is possible for them to ride with a guide or another member of your group who is comfortable with a passenger, but the price remains the same per person. Although some history and interesting information about Montreal is provided, the MS Guided Scooter Ride is not a comprehensive historical tour of the city. Each rider will be given a brief tutorial on how to ride a scooter before the tour begins, but the tutorial is not a substitute for a full scooter course. For new riders, the learning curve could be anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes. The tour begins in Old Montreal with lower speeds and progresses to faster speeds over the course of the tour. More experienced riders can skip the Old Montreal section in order to maximize their time at other locations.

For regular group sizes of 5 or less, please arrive at the time of your scheduled tour. Paperwork and helmet fitment will take about 5 - 10 minutes, the tutorial will take 10 - 20 minutes and you should expect to depart approximately 15 - 30 minutes after your arrival. Larger groups of 6+ should plan to arrive 10 - 15 minutes earlier than their scheduled tour time.

Conditions

  • Minimum age to participate as a driver is 16 with an automobile license, or 14 with a moped license (Quebec class 6D or international equivalent). Individuals under 18 years of age must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older.

  • Children aged 13 and under are discounted 50% and may ride with an adult member of the group or with the guide.

  • Tour must be booked a minimum 24H prior to desired Departure Time, or on short notice subject to availability. MS recommends booking at least 3 days in advance to secure your desired time slot.

  • Maximum private group size is around 10-15, depending on the skill level of your group. A 2nd guide may be provided at no additional charge for group sizes of 10-15 depending on the level of the drivers.

  • The official tour time does not begin until all the training is completed. You will get the entire 1, 2, or 3 hour tour experience, regardless of your skill level. However, if one or more members of your group requires extensive training, your tour may be cut slightly short if another tour is scheduled for later that day. For example, if your 3-hour tour is scheduled for 11h00 and there is another tour at 14h30, and if your paperwork and training takes more than 30 minutes, your tour will have to end at 14h30 regardless because we will need to be back for the next group.

  • If one of more members of your group is not able to maintain the speed limit (typically 40 km/h - 50 km/h on most Montreal roads) after the first 15 minutes of the tour, which are intentionally at a slower pace, not every stop will be covered in order to finish in the allotted time.

Cancellations for Groups of 1-5

  • To cancel, please email us. Montreal Scooter is located in the Eastern Standard Time zone. The time stamp of your email will determine if you’re eligible for a refund. If you’re cancelling well in advance of the cutoff time, a text or voicemail should be sufficient 99% of the time but if you do not receive a confirmation in a timely manner, we suggest a followup by email as Montreal Scooter cannot be held responsible for undelivered texts, which can occur in rare circumstances.

  • A full refund will be given for cancellations with a minimum of 72-hours notice. For example, if your tour is a 14h30 tour, your cancellation email must be timestamped no later than 3 days prior to the tour date at 14h30 to qualify for a full refund.

  • All cancellations with less than 72-hours but at least 48-hours notice, unless due to inclement weather, will be charged a 25% penalty on the credit card given at the time of booking.

  • All cancellations with less than 48-hours but at least 24-hours notice, unless due to inclement weather, will be charged a 50% penalty on the credit card given at the time of booking.

  • No refund will be given for cancellations with less than 24-hours notice, unless due to inclement weather.

  • For example, if your tour is at 14h30, your email must be timestamped no later than 14h30 to qualify for the 3 tiers of refunds.

  • Inclement weather is defined as unpleasant weather that involves the existence of rain or abnormal climatic conditions such as hail, snow, high winds, or the like or any combination thereof. In the vast majority of cases, inclement weather involving rain will determine the cancellation eligibility. Light rain (drizzle) is not sufficient to cancel a tour. Although subjective, MS considers light rain to be any rain that does not cause the average person great discomfort or compromise safety while riding a scooter.

Cancellations for Groups of 6+

  • Cancellation of groups of 6+ will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

  • Cancellation with less than 15 days notice for groups between 6-10 people will generally be subject to a 50% penalty due to the extensive planning involved. The group must be open to reasonable accommodation if inclement weather affects the preferred departure date and time. The 15-day period is a guide as long as regular communication between the parties is being made on various issues that could trigger a cancellation. A reasonable resolution will be offered by MS depending on how much a cancellation affects the scheduling of guides and other tours around the scheduled tour date and time.

  • Cancellation with less than 30 days notice for groups over 10 people will generally be subject to a 50% penalty due to the extensive planning involved. The group must be open to reasonable accommodation if inclement weather affects the preferred departure date and time. The 30-day period is a guide as long as regular communication between the parties is being made on various issues that could trigger a cancellation. A reasonable resolution will be offered by MS depending on how much a cancellation affects the scheduling of guides and other tours around the scheduled tour date and time.
